We have a lot of goals for our patients, the most important being to help them reach their goals! Part of that is helping our patients learn self care techniques for home. We want to give our patients independence with managing and changing their symptoms. We don’t “fix” anyone as PT’s. Sure, we’re going to help get you there, but you’re the one doing the work! We’re using our expertise and knowledge to guide you the right direction and make changes to your plan of care as needed but ultimately, you’re doing the work and making the lasting changes.
If you’ve been to PT before and it was a lot of passive treatment (manual therapy, dry needling, electrical stim, heat, ice, etc – not that we don’t love those, we do and we use some of them, but there’s a right way and a wrong way to use them, in our opinion) it’s not going to make the lasting changes most patients are looking for. You’ll get temporary relief but if that’s all you’re doing, it won’t stick long term. Those are great tools to get some relief so you can do the right exercises and activity modifications to really make the lasting changes in how your body functions and ultimately, get rid of your symptoms and help you get back to your favorite activities again.
We do things differently at Nashville PT. We want to put you in the driver’s seat of your rehab. We’ll be right up front next to you, making sure you have the tools and guidance you need to get there.
This concept is really important right now with the pandemic and the social distancing most of us are observing. Just because you’re stuck at home doesn’t mean you don’t have aches and pains that need to be addressed. Many people wonder how a virtual visit can be of any value if we “can’t put our hands on you” but there’s plenty we can do. We are full of ideas on ways you can do a lot of this yourself at home with our demonstration and guidance. We want everyone to be able to live an active life without pain getting in the way of the their favorite things. This is just another way we can help you do that.
If you’re having trouble doing your normal daily activity or your favorite form of exercise because something hurts, reach out so we can help you get back to doing those things again. Don’t let being stuck at home keep you from addressing it. Talk to us about a virtual visit today. You can email info@nashvillept.com or call/text 615-428-9213 or book online.
